Every year I watch the Oscars, always good for a laugh, watching them choke back the tears and snot, trying to get their speeches out.
But what were they thinking trying to make the Oscars a political forum for their beefs on the war?
I mean do they really give a shit? Do they have to?

Please if you want to make me cry make a sad movie.
<*dv_1*> I hate the way these people think they can actually change things because they have money and an opinion. I mean please, any normal "joe public" can tell you that no matter how convinced you are about your cause you can't change the government.

We are fooled in to thinking we live in a democracy, but the whole fiasco with the war has done nothing but prove that we don't. In nearly all the polls there was a definite want for staying out, but do the powers that be listen? No, they do exactly what they decide regardless.
Excuse my ranting, but I feel the need to, after years of opting out, not voting or giving my opinion on my politics, this is really starting to tick me off.
I used to feel bad for not voting. There is that quote: "all thats needed for evil to triumph over good is for good men to do nothing". Well all those people against the war, that stood together and shouted, now know that it doesn't matter, they do not have the power to change anything.
