Im a bad man. I dont vote. Not cant be arsed, I choose not to. Theres a wave of feeling rushing in my direction. How dare I not vote? Dont I realise the trials and the suffering of those before me who fought for the right to vote? The deaths of millions who fought for democracy.

Labour, Tory, Liberal? You can barely get a fag paper between them. Nearly ten years on and Labour are still blaming the parlous state of Health and Education on the Torys and the Torys are still claiming that our current economic strength is all down them! Whos right? Both? Neither? Quite frankly my dear, I dont give a damn! Oh, I keep a weather eye on them all just in case they get ideas above their station and start thinking they actually run the country (lets face it, its the Civil Service who run the country. You thought Yes Minister was a joke?!?) and maybe Id vote against if I thought our liberties were any more in danger than they currently are.
On which subject, ID Cards. Theyre OK if youve got nothing to hide are they? Tell that to the Algerians in Paris who are ten times more likely to be stopped and asked for their papers than a white guy. Tell that to the Hutus (or was it the Tutsis) who got their right hands lopped off for carrying the wrong card. Tell that to any black or asian lad driving in London (I lived in London for 2 years and never saw the Met pull anyone white). And Im a middle class white bloke incidentally before you dismiss this as the rants of a chippy ethnic minority.
<*dv_3*> So, lets not vote Labour because the Home Sec wants to bring in ID Cards. Ah, but so do the Tories. Great, so lets vote Liberal, theyve got some great ideas on tax and the re-distribution of wealth (hey isnt that supposed to be Labours gig?). Yeah, good, but theyre also the only party actually in favour of a Federal Europe. Not quite ready to be a Franco-German just yet (even if some of my best friends are French!). Or vote Green, because thats not a vote thats going to slip between the cracks in the floorboards of Westminster. Raving Monster Loony Party? Maybe you see were Im going now.
