The thong is generally perceived as being by far the sexiest. This is probably based on the fact that your modesty (ie. Your bum in case it's not so modest) is on display. But pants can be sexy too. Oh yes. Pants leave more to the imagination Just don't think of Geri Halliwell when she murdered 'It's Raining Men' NO! I SAID DON'T! OK, think Halle Berry, yeh? Nice pair of pants? See? It can work!
However, a badly fitted pair of pants can creep up your backside like a weasel looking for its burrow, whereas thongs are already there but you just can't tell (apart from your farts tend to whistle like a blade of grass between thumbs). If wearing thongs, close fitting clothes won't reveal how big your pants are to the general public. There's nothing funnier than pant lines, or is that just me who will sit and point out all the people who haven't yet converted to the thong?
Pants are easier to hang on the washing line (if you can be arsed, because they do take a bit of peg work). Although on a blustery day I'm not sure if I'd be happier for my neighbour to find a stray pair of pants or a thong wrapped around their rose bush. Would it really say that much about me? The answer is probably yes. So it would depend on the neighbour. I would prefer the old woman next door to find my pants and therefore think I was a good wholesome girl (which of course I am). But if the young guy from the other side found my pants I would most definitely find myself pleading that they DO look better on!
Another plus for pants is that they will allow those areas that are more private breathe a little easier. I read in a magazine recently that some female problems experienced 'down there' are due to too much thong wearing! This little article was found next to a full page picture of Posh Spice no less! Although I can't remember if any reference to the freshness of her downstairs department was made.
Personally I like to do a bit of both. My thongs when I'm wearing anything fitted, and pants for when I'm in my comfy playing out clothes. After much debate it remains that there is a place for both pants and thongs in my underwear drawer!
