<*dv_1*>"No man is an island" acoording to Jon Bon Jovi (Yes I know its wrong!) but then he's a lanky haired freak thats spent his career desperatly trying to recreate his poodle rock success of the 80's. Unfortunately for the star of this film, one Hugh Grant (A star known for his vacuous acting style as well as his vacuum like friends), he believes he is Ibiza. In a turn from his normal foppish good guy he actually tries to stretch to a different style and go for a shallow self-serving bastard, which to be fair he actually does quite well. Unfortunately the film is a rom-com without the romance, which might lead to the woman who forces you to watch it will be dissapointed. Rachel Weisz does pop up at the end of the film to provide the love interest but it seems a bit half hearted. On the bright side every bloke will want to be the character that the foppish one plays so it will be easy enough to get your bit of fluff to watch it with you. The only thing you will be forced to do is to 'shake ya ass' and 'watch ya self' and then this film can be yours. <*dv_0*> Take two bottles into the shower? Now I just wash and go! Definately the head & shoulders of the Hugh Grant film world. Slightly frothy and will sting if you get it in your eyes. Review by Russell Pottinger |
