Well there's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back and I hold you all personally responsible, although in all fairness I was warned.
At first I was definately in la-la land, i thought "let it get warmed up" and "maybe I'm not in the right mood for this movie". But there is no mood for this movie. I used to like Ben Affleck, but have never seen a movie that made me want to stick pencils up my nose and head-butt the seat in front, and I've seen 'Damaged' - a movie so bad that you have to see it just so you know what evil looks like. The only redeeming feature about Daredevil is it's soundtrack, which i will recommend, especially Evanescence- Wake me up inside. Fuel and Seether also give good contributions.
But Ben Affleck what were you thinking?
Not that this is your first sucky movie, 'Bounce' for example, bounced back up my esophagus along with my popcorn, but we all make mistakes. And your hits do outweigh your flops, but please don't make a sequel...
This is the worst superhero movie I have ever seen and I've seen them all. I mean in all honesty they are cheesy and comic booky (that's where they were spawned after all) but they make you believe that the geek can win, get the girl and beat the bad guy. They also make you want to kick the arse of everyone that ever picked on you as a geeky kid. But this film (i use that term loosely) is something else altogether, although a great comic, it just doesn't translate to big screen, I can't put my finger on why. There's no radioactive spider bite, no evolutionary development, in fact no real explanation for his super powers at all. I just didn't come away from this movie feeling good, I came away feeling violated, and I've seen 'Damaged', did I say that already? I really wanted to like it too, I loved the trailers, which I now know are the best bit. I wouldn't even watch this on Video, i will however be buying the soundtrack, not the best advert for a film huh?
If you can avoid seeing this movie, do. Unless your girlfriend/boyfriend has an Affleck affliction say NO..... go see Jackass, now that was good. |
